Connecting Cultures: An Honest Conversation About Race
The Livonia Chamber of Commerce’s conscious focus on building a culture of inclusion in our business community to connect people in our business community free of racism, sexism, and any other form of discrimination. We encourage people to take a genuine interest in others and sincerely engage with people without bias so true understanding of people can be achieved.
This is the goal of our conversation with Jeremiah Belton, a PNC Bank branch manager who serves on the Livonia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Jeremiah is a father of four (16, 14, 12, 8) and he is also a college soccer coach. He was raised in Canton, earned a bachelor's degrees from University of Southern Florida, MBA from Eastern Michigan University, and lives today in Canton.
We will talk with Jeremiah about his views on today’s racial tensions and the aftermath of the police killing of George Floyd in Minnesota which led to nationwide protests. He will share his experience growing up, racial situations he’s encountered, and how he’s handled them. He will provide insights to improve our engagement with people of different races and cultures, so we can take sincere steps to embrace diversity in our professional networks.
Jeremiah will talk with Chamber President Dan West in a Zoom format at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 16. Chamber members can register to participate in the conversation. There will be a question and answer period.
